I wanted to share a few images with the sorts of things produced at one of my tutorial days. On this particular shoot the photographer had a little studio experience but wanted to explore different studio lighting set ups, in particular more complex lighting set ups, and working with natural light as well.
I had the pleasure of working with Greg for a full day and we covered a variety of techniques and styles to help Greg decide where he wanted to take his photography and gain experience.

We tried some simple portrait and beauty lighting in a high key set up, to flatter the female face and match any age, skin tone and style of clothing.
Greg was interested in using a range of modifiers, and trying harder lighting as well as the conventional soft boxes etc. We worked on using textures and contrasts in colour to match the lighting styles and themes.
Greg and me particularly enjoyed playing with some gels and coloured backgrounds to create subtle, 3D effects for lingerie and art nude modelling.
Another from that set working with colours and lighting angles and spreads to create definition on the body areas, and using the body to fill the frame and create interesting angles.

There was also the opportunity to cover some simple but effective fashion lighting which is transferrable to location.

We also had the opportunity to shoot some natural light, with a bold, but natural setting.
We also tacked the tricky challenge of using a compact space, and minimal light.
All in all it was a great day with many delightful images produced.
